Description

CollaCare Powder, a sterile biodegradable and bioresorbable wound care device, is available in two formats, with different fluid absorption capacities, which are used for the lining of tissue defects and management of partial and full thickness wounds.

CollaCare Powder
  • Higher Density of Powder Particles
    (4 mg/cm³)

  • Lower Fluid Absorption Capacities
    (Absorbs 4 times its weight)
CollaCare HA (Higher Absorbency) Powder
  • Lower Density of Powder Particles
    (30 mg/cm³)

  • Higher Fluid Absorption Capacities
    (Absorbs 23 times its weight)

Once applied, in the presence of wound exudate, the product transforms into soft translucent gel, conforming to the shape of the wound bed and thus maintains intimate contact with wound surfaces. The biodegradable collagen provides a scaffold for cellular invasion and capillary growth.

Collagen plays an integral role in the repair and replacement of both soft and hard tissue by providing an extracellular scaffold, stimulating certain growth factors, and propagating tissue granulation, accelerating the natural process of wound healing.

Benefits of CollaCare Powder

  • Improved Patient Care: Easy to apply, the collagen matrix layer does not require removal; traditional dressings can often be painful to remove, thus reduced hospital stays.

  • Optimum Wound Healing Properties: Maintains a moist environment at the wound/dressing interface, and covers and protects exuding wounds. Promotes epithelization and stimulates healthy granulation.

  • Bioresorbable: The product is fully biodegradable and resorbable and can be left in situ, avoiding patient trauma and improving patient care.

  • Hemostyptic Action: Collagen is a natural hemostat and can be used to control excessive bleeding or hemorrhage.

  • Highly Stable: No special storage conditions or handling precautions required.

  • Reduced Risk of Allergic Reaction: Comprised of purified type I collagen extracted from equine or bovine Achilles tendon to eliminate risk of any known transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE).

  • Complete Wound Coverage: Powder particles allow for the complete coverage of the wound and it is particularly advantageous for use with irregular shaped wounds due to its ability to fill small spaces.

Superior Benefits: CollaCare HA (Higher Absorbency) Powder

  • Superior Absorption Capacity: Low-density powder particles facilitate high absorbency of fluid and exudate. CollaCare HA absorbs approximately 23 times its own weight.

  • Potential Combination with PRP (platelet-rich plasma): Similar to the potential use of collagen-PRP matrices in orthopedics, it may be a useful combination for chronic wound healing.

  • Handling Characteristics: The HA Powder is not sticky or tacky, is easy to apply and provides immediate coverage.
