CollaPress
Innocoll's proprietary CollaPress technology is described in European patent EP1265648, as granted in March 2008 and entitled "Novel collagen-based material with improved properties for use in human and veterinary medicine and the method of manufacturing such."
The technology produces collagen membranes with improved mechanical and fluid-absorption properties using a method of thermal compression that avoids need of chemical cross-linking agents, protects the native collagen from degradation, and preserves its physiological properties.
The technology is currently utilized in Innocoll's ProColl™ wound management device. It may also be used for the development of other proprietary, bioresorbable tissue reinforcement implants for surgical applications such hernia repair or prolapse reinforcement; and/or as an implantable delivery system for biologically active substances such as hemostatic agents, growth factors, cytokines, and drugs.
