CollaRx
The CollaRx® technology produces a lyophilized porous sponge of purified native collagen that can be implanted at the time of surgery or applied topically to chronic or acute/traumatic wounds.
The CollaRx matrices are biodegraded and fully resorbed within one to seven weeks according to implant location (i.e. well vascularized areas versus bone cavities). The in vivo release of drugs that may be incorporated into the CollaRx matrix takes place via a combination of diffusion and natural breakdown of the collagen to provide both rapid and prolonged release, which can be controlled through formulation techniques and processing variables.
The CollaRx sponge forms the basis of Innocoll's lead commercial product, Gentamicin Surgical Implant, currently marketed in Europe and in advanced stage of clinical development for the US.
CollaRx is also used for our lead pipeline products, Cogenzia and XaraColl.
